School's out for Summer!

Hey everyone,

I've been busy writing on my other blog...one that just deals with my life away from the Alamo. But I plan to keep this one updated as well.

I'm proud to say my drawing of David Crockett recently grcaed the cover of the May issue of The Crockett Chronicle. William Chemerka, editor and creator of the Alamo Society and Alamo Journal, has been very kind in publishing my work in both of his publications. My General Castrillon piece in the December 2004 issue of the Alamo Journal and ofcourse the above mention. So, I'm very proud of where I am going with my artwork and I can only imagine where my talents will take me.

Talking about publishing, I'll be working on the illustrations for the Alamo book I've been asked to comission all summer long. There will be several battle scenes along with a few arial and great angle aspects. So, I'm enjoying the work I'm doing.

Also, I'm also glad to say I have a girlfriend and tommorow...I'd have been with her for a month. Her name is Raven. Yes, there is an Alamo signifigance in the name as Sam Houston's nickname was The Raven. But I hadn't noticed it until my father and Bill Chemerka joked with me about it at the Alamo Gathering that took place in Orlando on April 29th. But she is a great girl and I'm proud and happy to say that I love her.

Anyway, until my next update...

I'm back

Hey all,

I haven't reposted in about 2 months. But then again, not much has changed since I last posted. Yet again...stuff has changed.

My best friend hates me now...and I've tried my best to continue our friendship, but she doesn't want anything to do with me. And the two of us shared more than friendship and we were really close. But...she's emotionally conflicted and there was nothing I could do to convince her about the chances us two had as a couple. So, now, she's ignoring me. There's more to this story...but it's pure drama and it would take up this entire page if I let it all out. So, I'm moving on from her.

Today I saw "Sin City" with a girl I know and had a blast. Saw the film, ate at "Smokey Bones" and had a great time with her.

As of things "Alamo" are progressing with me...it's coming along. I haven't spoken with the author of the book I'm illustrating for about 2 months and I am a bit worried. He hasn't tried contacting me neither.

But April 29th is when I'll finally meet William Chemerka, creator and editor of the Alamo Society & Journal, at Fort Wilderness in Orlando, Florida. Him and a few other Floridian Alamo buffs are getting together for an Alamo Symposium. So, I look forward to that. And come August 11th, after my trip to the Dominican Republic with a few friends from school, I'll be heading up to Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to watch the production of "The Lion of the West" that my dad's childhood friend Jay Eklond has put together and produced. It's to show during the "Crockett Day" festival they throw up there. More information is to be posted on the play.

Alamo Sentry has grown to 259 members. An impressive number, but I'd wish more of the members would post. Maybe 10 to 20 people out of that number attempt to. Of those people who try, I appreciate it. I'd just wish more would take the time to.

But my manuscript for my Alamo novel is coming along greatly. The ideas are pouring in and I'm having a blast writing it.

The Return

Hey all,

Wow, has it been a month since I last posted? Well, not much has really happened. I've been continuing my recent project of illustrating the Alamo book, redesigning Alamo Sentry, and working on my book.

Superbowl 39 was a smash here and we can't wait for the next one. Our city did an amazing job welcoming everyone and it was all pulled off smoothly.

School's the same. Assignments, hanging out with my friends, chasing girls, lol. But all of it's been fun and I'm having a great time.

It Do!

Hey all,

Computer recently crashed and it's finally fixed. Sorry I missed out on some of the recent posts made on Alamo Sentry and thealamofilm.com, but will get back to them soon.

I recently had a very nice interview with Alamo artist Gary Zaboly, so check out the interview at the link provided below.

Just wanted to say as well, when the "High Holy Days" come around, that I'll have the Alamo webcam up on the main page. Hopefully, SanAntonio.com or such do not mind that I use it. Besides that, video clips and photos from the events should come pouring in a day or so later. So, look forward to that. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or would like to provide something that will add to the March 6th experience for those who can't make it please send it to Dillon1836@comcast.net Have the topic titled "Alamo" or something that can get threw my spam filter.

Besides that...nothing much is new. Until my next submittion...

Updates Galore

You may notice Alamo Sentry going through alot of updates and that is because I'm trying to make up my mind on the right look for my messageboard. I'll probably have a manditory banner up during the High Holy Days to commemorate the men who died at the Alamo. I'll also add the Alamo webcam on the main page so yall can watch some of the festivities as they happen. But then, the camcorder clips and photos people send in will follow and it will be great to see photos. Especially for those who won't be there. Myself most likely included.

Alamo Sentry now has 209 members and more will "cross the line". I'd like if some of our Alamo Historians would join and take part in some of the discussions. Jack Edmondson has been kind enough to share his thoughts a number of times along with Brian Kaufman, author of The Breach, Alamo artist and Musician Mike Boldt, Tony Pasqua and others. I just get a great feeling to have all of these great people part take in the discussions.

Anyway, I replaced the background with a nice, brown one of the recent day Alamo. It fits. I also colored the scroll bar to fit the messageboard as well.

Well, until my next submittion....Remember the Alamo.

Welcoming in the New Year...

Well, it's the first day of 2005. I can't believe how fast last year went by. Especially with everything going on. School, the Alamo film premiere, etc.

The other day I got an email from Alamo Historian Rod Timanus and it seems the both of us share the same birthday. September 29th. So that was awesome to hear.

Anyway, I celebrated 2005 with a bang. Not really Alamo related, but I hung out with my friends at a "fandango" last night and over 100 people were there. Rockets were fired, a local band played music, and then the cops came and everyone "retreated" to their cars and friends houses. Reminds me of when the Mexicans arrived in bejar on February 24th. lol But I had a great time with my friends and am ready to have a successful year.

School starts again on the 3rd, this Monday, so I have 2 more days of vacation left. I'll be going back to the books and my friends and the girls (lol) and will continue my sophomore year. This month, the cover of our school newspaper which was designed by me will appear and it'll be another proud moment as it is my work that is being published. But nothing comes to feeling as good as when my piece of General Manuel Castrillon appeared in last month's Alamo Journal. I'm glad to see where my talents and hobbies are taking me.

Until my next submittion...

Sentry Updates

Hey all,

Yesterday, a coding problem caused a little scare on Alamo Sentry with the fact that I may have had to rebuild the board since I couldn't update the headers, which provides what most of you see on it. But all is well now and the problem is fixed.

New on Alamo Sentry is a light brown text which fits greatly with the overall look of the board. I also added a button beside the Alamo Photo Gallery one that says "The Sentry Blog" which will lead members and guests to my blog, here. More Updates are to follow.

Anyway, We now have 201 members and I'm very proud to see how our small Alamo community is coming along. Many thought provoking and interesting topics have risen so if you're looking for a good discussion...Alamo Sentry is the place to be.

Hope yall had a great Christmas and I look forward to the new year.
